McCulloch willing to be Rangers utility player

In an attempt to get back into the team Lee McCulloch has told Rangers boss Walter Smith he will play anywhere. The 30 year old, who has recently recovered from injury, said: "I play in a number of positions - and whenever the gaffer needs me, wherever he needs me, I'll keep myself fit and hope to come in and do a job.

"He asked me not so long ago if I'd ever played there, and I said no. He told me I had the attributes to play there; he tried me in a couple of reserve games, and I've ended up playing on Saturday.

"I've played there in a couple of reserve games, and he thought I did all right. Injuries were the reason I played on Saturday. But I thought I did well, so I'll just get on with it and keep training away.

"I didn't get told until before the game that I would be playing, and it came as a bit of a surprise - as it probably did to 50,000 other people.

"But I thought I did well. I don't think I will be a mainstay there but I'm happy I did okay."
