McCoist wants Rangers fans to give new owner a chance

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has urged the clubs supporters to give whoever the new owner is a fair chance.

'Gers won 5-0 over Dundee United at Ibrox last night but some fans were holding anti-Bill Miller banners in protest to the US businessman who may gain control of the club soon.

Miller wants to liquidate Rangers and form a 'newco' but supporters have made it clear that they are against that proposal, however, McCoist feels they have to be patient with whoever does win the bid to take majority shareholding from Craig Whyte.

"All I'd say is that everyone, whether it's Bill Miller, Paul Murray (and his Blue Knights) or anyone else, has to be given a chance. It would be wrong for us to be judge and jury about anyone," McCoist said.

"The fans have to be supportive of anyone who can take the club forward. Whoever gets preferred bidder status deserves a chance.

"People will have opinions about all the parties concerned, but the one thing we all want is a degree of stability. If we have to take a couple of steps back in order to go forward, so be it."
