McCoist confident of Rangers victory over Celtic in Old Firm derby

Rangers boss Ally McCoist is full of confidence going into the Old Firm derby with Celtic at Parkhead tonight.

The league leaders take on their Glasgow rivals away from home as they strive to again go points clear of the Hoops, who have whittled a 15-point gap down to one in less than two months, but the 'Gers gaffer is showing plenty of self-belief ahead of the final match of 2011.

"I do believe we will win the game, absolutely," he said.

"We have the players to win and it's as simple as that. I have great belief in the boys here.

"Make no mistake about it, it's a very tough place to go. But I see us winning the game.

"I would not be doing my job if I was being anything other than positive and confident."

But McCoist, whose side is going for four Premierships in a row, does not believe that whoever wins the Old Firm matches necessarily wins the Scottish Premier League title.

"It's three vital points but that's all. The fact is you don't need to win this game to win the league but I'd rather win these matches and the league," he added.

"Celtic took more points from the Old Firm games last season and we won the league."
