Steve McClaren is back in favouritism to land the Newcastle United manager's job.
According to the Daily Mail, the former Derby County boss is set to make a presentation to Magpies managing director Lee Charnley and chief scout Graham Carr to unveil his plans for the north east club.
Manchester City Elite Development Squad coach Patrick Vieira is also being heavily linked with the St James' Park role but it is suggested that if McClaren's talks are a success, he could land the job prior to next week.
It is believed that Vieira has interest from elsewhere and could also sign a new deal to stay with City which gives McClaren, who parted ways with the Rams at the end of last season, free run at the post to replace interim boss John Carver.
