McCartney declares West Ham on a roll

West Ham defender George McCartney says the Hammers fear no team as they prepare for a final push for an immediate return to the Premier League. "Things are going well and we must keep going now," the Northern Ireland international told his club's official website.

"There are 14 matches left until the end of the season and we want to try and win every one. The manager has got a great squad together here and confidence is high.

"You never try and look beyond the next game, but confidence comes from winning matches. In the last six games, apart from the defeat at Ipswich, we have won three and drawn two and so confidence in what we can do and team spirit comes from these results."

McCartney made his 100th appearance for the Hammers in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, a feat he thought he would never reach when he originally left the club to join Sunderland.

"I left the club four years ago having played 70 or 80 games and, I must admit, I didn't think I would be back here playing my 100th game for West Ham. I'm delighted to reach this milestone. I am chuffed to bits."
