McCarthy: Everton players felt we deserved derby three points

Everton midfielder James McCarthy says the home dressing room was left frustrated after Saturday's 3-3 draw.

Liverpool managed a late equaliser to rescue a point.

McCarthy told evertontv: "It was exciting for the fans but disappointing for myself. I thought we deserved the three points but we go again next week against Stoke and we need to get three points as soon as possible. It's going to be a tough game.

"The belief in the changing room is that we're still right in the mix. We don't want to get carried away and say we're going to get in the Champions League and not do it but we've got a good squad.

"This is a great bunch of players and there's a real positive mood around the ground. There's a long way to go but we can build on this."
