McBreen brace sends Perth to brink of finals

Daniel McBreen scored twice within the opening 15 minutes to lead Perth to a 3-1 win over Central Coast Mariners tonight in Perth. Perth Glory 3 (McBreen 1, 14, Jukic 46) Central Coast Mariners 1 (A.Kwasnik 49th) Crowd: 8,160 The result officially ends the Mariners' hopes of making the finals, whilst Perth is now confirmed as a finalist barring two heavy losses in the remaining two rounds.

Daniel McBreen, who started the season at North Queensland Fury before his temporary move to Perth, scored two goals against his soon to be new club. McBreen will move to the Mariners at the end of the season after signing with the club late last year.

His first came after only 48 seconds, capitalising on a poor defensive error from Chris Doig to slot home the opening goal.

He doubled the scoreline after some good lead-up work from Andrew Neville and Andrija Jukic rounded out the scoring for Perth with a close range finish on the stroke of halftime.

Adam Kwasnik gave the Mariners some hope with his goal four minutes into the second half, but Perth was able to withstand the Mariners pressure to secure the win and a place in the finals.
