Maya Yoshida says he moved to Southampton for the fine dining.
The defender joined Southampton from Dutch club VVV Venlo in the summer.
And the Japan international joked escaping the grub was a major factor in his move to St Mary's.
Yoshida, 24, said: "The food in Holland was horrible. I was told English food was much better, especially fish and chips. I've not tried it but if anyone knows a good restaurant, I'd like to.
"The Premier League has a few Japanese players - me, Tadanari Lee, Shinji Kagawa and Ryo Miyaichi.
"We often meet in London for some Japanese food. I hope soon somebody makes a good Japanese restaurant in Southampton."
