New AS Roma goalkeeper Mauro Goicoechea is determined to establish himself as the club's No1.

Goicoechea has signed for Roma on-loan from Uruguay's Danubio.

"I am grateful to have arrived in Rome," commented the 24-year-old at a Press conference at Trigoria.

"This is a great club and I'm here to grow and improve. In time, I aspire to be the team's best goalkeeper.

"Maarten Stekelenburg and Bogdan Lobont are both excellent 'keepers and it will be an honour to learn from them. My idol? Gigi Buffon."
