Mathias taken into police custody as investigation into extortion attempt against Juventus star Pogba intensifies

Mathias Pogba has been taken into custody by French police as part of the investigation into an alleged extortion attempt against brother and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

On Wednesday evening, Mathias, as well as four other people, were taken into custody. They are suspected of having not only tried to extort, but also of having kidnapped Paul.

France Info reports that according to investigators, one of the men arrested is suspected of having gone to the Juventus training centre to put pressure on the midfielder, but above all having demanded a deposit of three million euros on the overall 13 million demanded. It's alleged he was accompanied by two hooded men armed with assault rifles.

Mathias surrendered himself to the police officers of the Central Office for the Fight against Organized Crime, in Nanterre. But the striker continues to deny the charges, as do the four men placed in police custody.

The four other suspects are all known to local police.
