Mathias Pogba remains in custody after appeal to be released rejected

Mathias Pogba remains in custody in France as part of an investigation into an alleged extortion attempt on brother and Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba.

Mathias is being held as local authorities continue their investigation, despite his lawyer appealing for his release.

Le Parisien says judges for the case were unimpressed by Mathias' decision to make a series of videos and release them on social media making a case against his brother.

It's reported they felt Mathias, with the videos, was exerting more pressure on Paul from inside prison.

As such, the appeal for his release made by lawyer Me Yassine Bouzrou was rejected.

Le Parisien has obtained the order dated September 29 and in which it is stated that “videos showing the indicted as well as multiple messages (…) containing renewed forms of pressure with regard to Paul Pogba were published on September 23 on Twitter and TikTok accounts usually used by the person concerned" and that "these recent elements raise even more serious questions about the latter's involvement, his intentions vis-à-vis the plaintiff and on his position in relation to the facts for which he is indicted".
