Marco Materazzi has overseen a second win for his Chennaiyin FC in the inaugural Hero Indian Super League.
The Chennai outfit edged David James' Kerala Blasters 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to make it two wins from two in the ISL, which has them placed second on the table.
Elano converted from the penalty spot in the 12th minute in a passionate encounter to give Chennaiyin the lead before Iain Hume fired home an equaliser five minutes into the second half.
Chennaiyin, who beat FC Goa 2-1 in their opening match, then took the lead in spectacular fashion when Bernard Mendy produced a stunning overhead kick just after the hour-mark which Kerala keeper James had little chance of stopping.
Chennaiyin will now look ahead to their October 25 meeting with the Delhi Dynamos in Delhi while Kerala, who sit at the foot of the table without a point, take on league leaders Atletico de Kolkata at the Salt Lake Stadium on October 26.
