Juan Mata is delighted Frank Lampard has penned a new deal.

Mata is in no doubt his game has improved playing alongside the England veteran.

The Spanish ace, 25, told the Daily Star Sunday: "I am so happy for Frank and for his new contract - so that we can now enjoy him for at least one more season.

"For me, Frank is an example to everyone. He is like an idol for me. Lamps is a legend and, of course, now he is staying with us and is still ­going to be helping us.

"You can see every season he scores 15 goals or more, which for a midfielder is just ­unbelievable.

"And that goal of his against Aston Villa was amazing because we got Champions League qualification from it - and he got the record."
