Javier Mascherano is committing himself to Liverpool after seeing the trail to Barcelona turn cold.
The Mirror says Mascherano will sign a new £20million contract with Liverpool after accepting his Nou Camp dream is over.
The Argentina skipper had stalled on a new deal at Anfield since Barcelona showed interest in him last summer.
But with Liverpool ready to offer him £90,000 a week, he will commit his best years to them, after finding he is no longer wanted in Catalonia.
Barca have presidential elections this summer and every candidate has to promise glamorous, big-name signings in their manifestos.
That means Cesc Fabregas, Franck Ribery or even Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard, not a defensive midfielder valued at £35million by Liverpool.
