Martinez won't panic if Wigan fall into bottom three

Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez insists he's not bothered if they fall into the dropzone.

The Latics slipped to 18th when Sunderland beat Reading 3-0 on Tuesday to move out of the relegation places. Wigan have perfected the way of putting a run together in the second half of the season to secure survival.

Martinez said: "We are not happy with the points tally we have got.

"But we are not looking at the positions in the table because the margins are small. There are three teams divided by goal difference. In December, your position in the table only gives you an indication.

"I'm very happy with where we are in terms of the way we are performing. I don't think we are very far away from turning our good performances into consistent, good scorelines.

"That is where the work is and that has to start now and go until the end of the season.

"But the attitude of the players and some of the football has been consistently of the highest standard."
