Everton manager Roberto Martinez feels that Everton got the better end of the deal when they sold Marouane Fellaini to Manchester United.
The towering Belgian midfielder was offloaded for £27.5million in the summer of 2013 and the jury is still out as to which club benefitted more from the transaction.
According to Martinez, however, it was the Goodison Park outfit who did as Fellaini's departure has helped bring a diverse approach to the Toffees game plan.
Martinez said: "At that time you get those situations.
"I look at it as players will come and go but you need to make sure that when you let a player leave, it is good business for the football club.
"For that reason, you are going to bring three players in instead of one and financially it is a good deal for the club and that was the case.
"It was a very, very important window because losing Marouane Fellaini had a big impact on the goal-scoring threat of the team at that time and you would feel it was going to be a real task to replace that.
"But I do feel the players we brought in gave us a bit more of a different approach and we became a more diverse team that benefited us as a team."
After a disappointing first season at Old Trafford, Fellaini has hit some form of late by scoring five goals which has helped propel United to third in Premier League standings.
