Everton boss Roberto Martinez would welcome Europa League qualification today.

Martinez would use the campaign to toughen up his talented youngsters.

"It toughens everyone up, not just the younger players," he said. "It's a unique experience for the younger players, but for the experienced ones as well, you sharpen your level of performance and there is no margin for error.

"Straight away you see the ones that have the focus and energy and the ones that don't have it. It's a selective process and it's been an important one, for the staff as well as the players."
