Marseille want to recall Djibril Cisse from his loan at Sunderland.
The News of the World says the French club badly need a striker and have made a desperate attempt to lure back Cisse after failing to sign Swedish frontman Henrik Larsson.
Cisse, 27, has scored eight goals in 18 games for the Black Cats.
