Olympique Marseille coach Didier Deschamps is eager to sign Juventus captain Alessandro del Piero.

The 37-year-old will leave Turin in the summer once his contract at the Old Lady expires, but he will play on.

"I have respect for what Alex has done in his career," Deschamps told Rai Sport. "He's a champion whom I have had the good fortune to have as a teammate and then a player.

"If he chose to come to Marseille then I would welcome him with open arms."
