Marseille coach Eric Gerets has confirmed interest in Swedish striker Henrik Larsson, challenging Everton for his services.

Everton manager David Moyes has repeatedly said he would love the former Celtic and Barcelona star at Goodison Park and Gerets has joined the chorus in singing the 37-year olds praises.

"I gave my managers the profile of players I would like to have to complete my squad," said Gerets.

"I have a priority for one player for one post. But it's not simple, because other clubs are equally interested.

"[Larsson] fits the profile we are looking for."
