Marquee Mooy re-signs with Melbourne City

Aaron Mooy has signed a new three-year contract at Melbourne City, which will see the midfielder become one of City's two marquee signings.

Mooy had been linked with moves to clubs in England, Scotland and the Netherlands. The 24-year-old played a major role in City's campaign which took them to the semi-final last season.

"Aaron has demonstrated over the last 12 months his importance and value, not only to the team but also the Club," City head coach John van 't Schip said.

"He is an incredibly dedicated professional and has become a leader and role model for our younger players.

"We certainly see Aaron as being vital to our plans for the forthcoming season and beyond so we are very excited to have Aaron re-sign with the Club.

Mooy scored 7 goals, and had 8 assists in 2014/15. He also scored two free-kicks in City's opening FFA Cup clash with Edgeworth last week.
