Enzo Maresca is driving West Ham United's move for Sevilla attacker Franco Vazquez.
The former midfielder is part of West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini's new-look coaching staff and played with Vazquez at Palermo.
Mundo Deportivo says West Ham are in talks with Sevilla chief Joaquin Caparros, who is prepared to sell Vazquez.
The Italy international's contract carries a €40m buyout clause, though Caparros is willing to sell for €30m.
Caparros recognises Vazquez's style of game won't suit the system of new Sevilla coach Pablo Machin.
