Marcelo insists he wasn't being critical of Real Madrid when commenting on the boos and whistles heard during their victory over Osasuna.

The Brazilian had initially declared he "didn't care" if the fans booed because they "had no influence" on his performance.

Yesterday, Marcelo clarified: "The people of the city show their love for me wherever I go and in the stadium the fans are nice to me.

"I've seen that somewhere it's suggested I do not directly respect the views of supporters. I want to qualify this is not so, I want to clarify if I have not expressed myself well.

"I feel a deep respect for all those fans who encouraged the team."
