Maradona could be on his way to Australia next year

Diego Maradona could be headed to Australia for a promotional visit early next year according to Euro Soccer Skills Academy director Zlatko Maric.

Maric told au.fourfourtwo.com that talks have commenced on a possible trip for the Argentine legend to be held in the later part of January in Sydney, Newcastle and Melbourne.

"I received a phone call from Maradona's agent Silvio Fontana who wanted to work together to bring Maradona to Australia," Maric said.

"We have the opportunity to bring Maradona to Australia for three days - at three different locations. We have already talked to Sydney FC, Newcastle Jets, and we plan to take him to Melbourne too.

"This trip will be an eye opener for many parents in Australia," added Maric. "It is a unique opportunity for the Australian public to see what it takes to become great from the greatest footballer of all time. It will be a celebration of football for three days in Australia.

"Maradona has said what I am doing with my skills programs reminds him of his childhood and we want to promote that football is about freedom of expression."
