Italian goalkeeper Vito Mannone has been handed a new deal by Arsenal.
With Jens Lehmann on his way out of the Gunners, there was talk that Arsene Wenger would look for another experienced keeper but it now looks as though he will stick with Almunia with Polish signing Lukas Fabianski as his number two and Mannone now number three.
Mannone would have wanted assurances that he would not be pushed further down the pecking order at The Emirates before committing his future to the club until 2012 and it is clear that Wenger gave him that guarantee.
