Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini admits he'd love to sign AS Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi.

Roma have failed to secure De Rossi to a new contract, with his current deal now inside it's final 12 months.

"Samir Nasri (from Arsenal) will arrive, but De Rossi would be perfect for Manchester City. With those two, we really would be competitive," said Mancini.

"However, I fear Daniele will stay at Roma for life, just like Francesco Totti."
