Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic admits manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already thrown down the gauntlet to his players for the new season.
All summer he has been thinking more about the crushing defeat to Barcelona in the Champions League final instead of the thrill of being the man who led the Reds to the title their fans craved most of all.
Vidic said: "The manager has already asked us if we have the hunger to go again this season.
"If you play for Manchester United, you have to have that hunger inside you - it is part of being a United player. No one is allowed to stay still and think about what we won last time.
"This is a new season and a new challenge. If you don't have that mentality, then it will be hard for you at a club like this.
"Even before we played New England Revolution in our first tour game, the manager was focused on winning it. He told us 'We have to show we are Man United and we have to win the game'.
"The expectation at this club is to win, win, win - whoever we play. And that always comes from the manager."
