Man Utd's Rooney grateful to England fans for support

Manchester United ace Wayne Rooney says he's grateful to England's fans for the way they support him.

"When they cheer my name as the team is announced before the kick-off then chant it in the matches it is fantastic and special," he told the Daily Star.

"You know the fans come from all different clubs and with England they all come together as one.

"It would be brilliant to give them something to celebrate. I can assure them we want to be successful as much as them.

"The last two tournaments, in 2004 and 2006 was frustrating for me and the team and there is now a feelgood factor under Fabio Capello.

"We are playing as well as at any time since I came into the squad and the one thing you know with Mr Capello is that if you are not playing well you will not be in the team. That keeps us all on our toes and wanting to perform."
