Cristiano Ronaldo says Manchester United deserved their victory last night at Porto. The Portugal captain said: "I still have not seen a replay, but I felt it was a great goal. We wanted to win here and show our football. Man Utd did well in the first-half, FC Porto not. In the second-half, FC Porto was better, but I am very happy to have scored.

"FC Porto is strong, is leader of the Portuguese League, but over the two halves, I think Man Utd was stronger. I think this win will give us confidence, we now face Arsenal, a team we know well.

"This goal has given me enough confidence for the rest of the season."
