Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand doesn't see Carlos Tevez as a "defector" over his move to Manchester City.

Ferdinand said: "I don't see Carlos going as a defection. He was a free agent to make his mind up after his two years were up.

"It was down to him to decide but, looking at it from the outside, it seems a complicated issue in terms of communication between the two parties. If they weren't saying the same things, a deal could not be made. But I am more interested in how we perform."
