Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick praised their stand-in defence for victory over Blackburn Rovers.
Wes Brown and Jonny Evans stepped up in the absence of senior pair Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic for last night's 2-0 win.
Carrick told MUTV: "I thought Jonny Evans and Wes Brown were exceptional at the back.
"It's always important to keep a clean sheet. We don't want to leak goals and today we were very focused on defending. I thought we did well against Blackburn's long-ball threat."
