Man Utd teammates gave Tuanzebe standing ovation

Axel Tuanzebe was given a standing ovation by Manchester United teammates when he was made captain.

The 21-year-old was given the armband for the EFL Cup win against his home town Rochdale last night in a shock move from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Sun says Tuenzebe was not expecting to lead the team out until assistant boss Mike Phelan told him before kick-off so he could head to the referee's room for the captain's meeting.

According to Old Trafford sources, Tuanzebe got a round of applause from his team-mates when he returned to the dressing room.

Speaking to United's club website after the Reds won on penalties, he said: "Dreams do come true. I had goosebumps as I was walking out.

"It's something I have been working on for a long time and the moment finally came."
