Man Utd struggling to make progress in talks for Atletico Madrid fullback Trippier

Manchester United are no closer to signing Atletico Madrid right-back Kieran Trippier, reports have claimed.

30-year-old Trippier wants to make the move to Manchester and has begun making preparations for the move.

But Atleti are holding up the transfer as they stick by their €20m asking price, according to the Manchester Evening News.

United are concentrating on signing Jadon Sancho and a centre-back, with talks progressing to sign Raphael Varane from Real Madrid.

Any move for Trippier might be helped by the sale of Diogo Dalot.

The Portugal international has been told to return to United for preseason, but that doesn't mean he is not available for other clubs.

AC Milan are keen to sign Dalot on another loan deal after his successful 2020/21 campaign at San Siro.
