Man Utd striker Van Persie blames poor season on short summer break

Robin van Persie blames his poor season with Manchester United on not getting enough time off last summer.

Van Persie feels if he had been given an extra week's break by United manager Louis van Gaal, he would've been fresher.

"After such a big tournament, you really need to have a vacation. Usually three weeks is quite normal, but sometimes your body is fine if you get an extra week," Van Persie told De Telegraaf.

"But, when I asked (Louis van Gaal), he replied that he wanted to give me two weeks of vacation.

"I laughed, thinking it was a joke, but it really was his answer ... "
