Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney was happy to claim his scrappy winner against Reading.

Rooney scored the only goal of the game.

"We knew three points was the most important thing after City dropped three points [2-0 at Everton]," said Rooney.

"After that, it was a tough game but we hung on. It is always nice to score, deflection or not. And thankfully it won us the game."
