Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney expects to see action against Wigan Athletic this Saturday.
Rooney, 25, returned to United's Carrington training base yesterday after completing his week-long intensive fitness programme in America.
Rooney's conditioning work at Nike's headquarters in Portland, Oregon, was designed to solve a niggling ankle problem, which has plagued him since last season.
It is understood tough training sessions were also added to his schedule to help the England striker catch up on the pre- season he missed after his nightmare World Cup.
