Man Utd striker Keane, Swansea midfielder King open Preston, Crewe accounts

Will Keane scored his first goal for Preston North End in Wednesday night's Capital One Cup triumph.

The 22-year-old Manchester United forward, who is on a season-long with the Lilywhites, fired home in the 13th minute as Simon Grayson's side accounted for Crewe Alexandra 3-1 in the first round of the league cup.

Following Jordan Hugill's fifth-minute penalty, Keane double Preston's advantage at Gresty Road when a defensive header fell his way, inviting the former QPR and Sheffield Wednesday loanee to rocket home from close range.

Scottish midfielder Adam King, who is on loan at Crewe from Swansea City, gave the home side some semblance of hope when he netted with a low shot form the edge of the area in the 36th minute. Former Newcastle United youngster Bradden Inman provided the assist.

However, Preston landed the killer blow four minutes from time when Josh Brownhill ex-Manchester United academy midfielder Josh Brownhill produced a left-footed volley from 13 yards to send the visitors through to the second round of the cup.

Check out Keane's goal from 0:46 and King's strike from 1:10.
