Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to get serious about a deal for Atletico Madrid ace Sergio Aguero. The Daily Star Sunday says Argentinian Aguero is seen as the ideal replacement for Carlos Tevez having formed a potent partnership with former United striker Diego Forlan in La Liga.
The son-in-law of Argentina manager Diego Maradona, Aguero has admirers throughout Europe and so far Atletico Madrid have been fending off all inquiries by quoting a £50million asking price.
United, and other clubs like AC Milan and Barcelona, believe that is too high but Fergie is weighing up an offer of around £35m - the amount they were ready to pay for Lyon's Karim Benzema before Real Madrid raised the stakes.\
