Manchester United have sounded out Italy coach Roberto Mancini about a move to Old Trafford.
United are actively seeking a new manager after Sunday's sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
BILD's chief of football Christian Falk has revealed United made contact with Mancini in the last 24 hours about a return to England.
But the former Manchester City manager swiftly rejected the approach.
Mancini is focused totally on next year's World Cup with Italy, which now face the March playoffs to reach Qatar.
