Man Utd so close to ending Champions League pain - Jones

Manchester United defender Phil Jones believes that his side are close to redeeming themselves by making a return to the Champions League.

As a consequence of their poor season last time, United did not qualify for Europe's elite club competition for the first time in over two decades and the experience certainly proved to be a painful one for everyone involved with the club.

Nonetheless, the Red Devils have recovered well this season and look set to make a return back to Europe's premier club competition much to the delight of centre-back Jones.

"We've missed it massively, there's nothing like a European night when the Champions League music is on, especially when you've been watching it this season and haven't been a part of it," he said.

"You sit and watch the games and it's disappointing, of course it is painful. A team like Manchester United should be there but we've no given right to be there, we need to perform.

"I think we've got some fantastic and talented players, I'm sure there will be one or two coming in to strengthen the squad, but we've moving in the right direction. We just need to finish the season strongly now."
