Man Utd skipper Vidic: Schalke selection key to Chelsea victory

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic admits the players felt fresh going into their title deciding clash with Chelsea.

Vidic applauded Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to make so many changes for the Champions League semi-final victory Schalke at Old Trafford, which clearly reaped dividends.

"I think, sometimes, especially at the end of the season, it's mental tiredness and not so much maybe physical," he told manutd.com.

"The manager felt the team needed a bit of rest and we saw we had great energy, ran a lot and didn't give up in the whole game.

"I think it was a great decision by the manager, hopefully when you're winning games, the decisions are good but we are lucky this time that the decision was right."
