Manchester United skipper Nemanja Vidic was happy to mark Sir Alex Ferguson's 1,000th game in charge with victory at Southampton.
Vidic insisted that Fergie's desire to get victory at all costs helps motivate the players both on and off the pitch.
"He is inspirational for us," said the Serbian centre-back. "When you look at the last 25 years, every year he has that desire and hunger to win games.
"I think that positive energy that he has is sent to us and he has set up that mentality in the dressing room, not just in the games and the training grounds, this is important.
"All over the years Manchester United win so many games in the last minute and it's not coincidence.
"The manager is always asking the players to go for the win, you're never happy for the draw, you always go to the end and never stop."
