Manchester United are being linked with a shock move for AS Roma winger Gervinho.
The Daily Express says reports in Italy suggest that the 26-year-old wants to be rewarded for his good work last season with an improved deal.
Gervinho wants both a pay rise and an extension to his current deal but Roma are in no position to meet the player's demands.
But Roma boss Rudi Garcia warned: "Our goal this summer is not to increase the wage budget, but logically we should not have to sell."
It is suggested that Louis Van Gaal is considering whether to meet the player's £16m buy-out clause to make him part of the revolution at Old Trafford this summer.
Gervinho would link up with former Arsenal teammate Robin van Persie if he were to make the move to Old Trafford, but it remains to be seen just how serious United's interest really is.
