Man Utd's Rooney content with state of England squad

Wayne Rooney has praised the England squad after they defeated Estonia 1-0 in Euro2016 qualifying on Sunday.

The Three Lions edged the ten-man Estonians in Tallinn in their third Group E fixture courtesy of Rooney's 73rd-minute goal - his 43rd for his country - but preferred to share the victory with his young teammates who helped produce a third win on the trot.

"There are options in the starting XI and options on the bench. It gives the manager a difficult decision to make," the England skipper told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It's great and there's a lot of talk about young English players at the moment but we seem to be getting there for England and doing a good job so we're pleased with that.

"There's a lot of ambition and everyone wants to learn. It's great to see in the training camp. Not just on the pitch but in the hotel - everyone's taking in the information and wanting to get better. It's paying off on the pitch."

England currently sit on top of the group table with nine points from their trio of outings and a goal difference of plus eight having not conceded thus far in the qualifying campaign.
