Nani was left bruised and bleeding as Sporting Lisbon were knocked out of the Europa League on Thursday night.
The Manchester United winger, who is on a season-long loan with the Portuguese club, was knocked down during his side's 0-0 Round of 32 second leg draw at the Estadio Jose Alvalade and required treatment.
Nani was hunched over with blood streaming from his nose but managed to remain on the pitch thanks to some assistance from the club medico who produced the old cotton wool trick to limit the blood flow.
Sporting had lost the first leg 2-0 in Germany and were unable to fight back at home as visiting keeper Diego Benaglio made some top-quality saves to deny the home team, including an effort from Nani, who operated on his customary left wing.
