Man Utd's Ferguson tips Rooney to bounce back from World Cup disappointment

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has tipped his star striker Wayne Rooney to bounce back from a disappointing World Cup campaign with England.

The 24-year old failed to make an impression in South Africa despite being tipped to be one of the stars of the tournament but Ferguson said that Brazil 2014 would be a completely different story.

"There was talk of him being the player of the tournament," he told SunTalk.

"The prelude to the whole thing was that he was going to be the star.

"He was going to outshine Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, all of them. That's where the level of expectation comes into it.

"But he's not got great experience of a World Cup really. You wait, in four years' time you'll see a different player."
