Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand believes his club and country teammate Wayne Rooney has too much pressure placed on him when he is relied upon so readily.
The 24-year old is often singled out as the goalscoring answer for both United and England but Ferdinand says it is unrealistic to expect so much from one player on a consistent basis.
"I think Wayne put in a good shift (against Montenegro). Sometimes with strikers you just need that little bit of luck in front of goal," he said.
"The ball didn't really fall for any of our strikers to get a clean chance so to pick out 'Wazza' would not be fair.
"The ball just didn't drop for us in their box. 'Wazza' is a great player but we can't be too reliant on him."
