Man Utd's Ferdinand intent on making Aalborg clash

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand is desperate to play in the 'dead rubber' against Aalborg in the last match of the group phase in the Uefa Champions League.

Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted he may leave some key players out of the squad for match against the Danes but Ferdinand is hoping he is included.

"Players do not just accept they will miss games. I like playing. When the manager told me I was not playing last Wednesday, I still wanted to," Ferdinand said.

"It's a chance to win another trophy and you want to be involved. I actually prefer to play two games a week.

"We are used to it and you get the momentum of playing every week. Missing matches is not something I rub my hands about."
