Man Utd's Ferdinand hands it to Barcelona: They were better

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand conceded that Barcelona were the better team in last night's Champions League final at Wembley.

The English champions were beaten 3-1 by the Spanish La Liga title winners to notch up their second Champions League triumph in three seasons.

Ferdinand could offer no excuses after the game, simply saying that Barcelona were better.

"We've got to give credit to them, they played well tonight," Ferdinand said after the game.

"They have great players and a way of playing. It was up to us to combat that and today we didn't do it.

"We genuinely believed we could come here and be winners but it didn't go like that."
