The Manchester Evening News says they congratulated the players after their 2-0 victory at Everton on New Year's Day.
United legend Charlton and managerial titan Ferguson often greet the players following matches and were permitted entry to the away dressing room at Goodison Park.
Axel Tuanzebe was spotted catching up with Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, who was one of three former United players to start for Everton, along with Michael Keane and Wayne Rooney, after the game.
